How to apply
You are automatically considered for this scholarship when you are admitted to S&T based on your eligibility and the requirements of this scholarship.
Funds disbursement
The Provost's International Master's Merit-Based Scholarship will be offered on your student financial aid account on Joe’SS and disbursed on your behalf each semester upon meeting eligibility requirements. Funds from this scholarship will only apply to tuition and fees. In order to receive continued disbursements, students must meet the below renewal criteria.
Requirements
Eligible students
- New incoming international master’s students (starting Spring 2025 or Fall 2025) - cannot have received scholarship for any other degree program.
Non-eligible students
- Doctoral or certificate students
- Online or distance students
- Students on a quarter-time GRA/GTA/GA appointment (25% FTE) or higher*
- Students fully funded by any organization or agency
Actions which will void this scholarship
- Being awarded a quarter-time GRA/GTA/GA appointment (25% FTE) or higher will forfeit the scholarship moving forward, even if you are not given the quarter-time GRA/GTA/GA appointment (25% FTE) or higher in subsequent semesters.*
- Taking a semester off from courses will void the scholarship.
- If, at any time during the period of the scholarship, your course load drops below what is required to maintain your full-time status as an F-1 student, you will be required to reimburse the university for the scholarship that was paid for that particular semester. (This may not be applicable if enrolled less than 9 credits in your last semester.)
- Scholarships will not apply to any semester(s) when you are not enrolled in any courses (i.e. only on maintenance of matriculation status).
- This scholarship cannot be combined with any other S&T funded benefits (i.e. employee educational benefit).
Deferment and appeals
- The scholarship is non-deferrable; students participating in a study abroad semester or co-op/CPT semester are not eligible to receive the scholarship while on study abroad or co-op/CPT or when they return from study abroad or co-op/CPT.
- This is a non-appealable scholarship.
Renewal criteria
- You must be an international student (on an F-1 or J-1 visa).
- You must be paying international student tuition and fees to be eligible.
- You must not have a GRA/GTA/GA appointment of more than 24.9% FTE.*
- You must continue to maintain full-time status as an F-1 international master's student. If you are less than 9 credits in your fourth semester, you could qualify for the scholarship as part of your F-1 status.
- This scholarship will be awarded during the fall and spring academic semesters and is applicable for the summer session.
- Students who interrupt their enrollment at Missouri S&T cannot receive this scholarship upon re-enrollment at Missouri S&T.
- The scholarship is guaranteed only for the first on-campus semester, but can be renewed for up to three consecutive semesters.
*Typically, if a student is awarded a GRA/GTA/GA appointment of 25% or greater, they would be eligible for tuition benefits that are higher than their existing scholarships.
