Missouri Council of the Blind Scholarship

The Missouri Council of the Blind is pleased to offer scholarships to blind students who will be entering college during the school year of September 2008-2009. Students must be enrolled in a full course of study and pursuing a degree. Scholarships are also available for current students who are presently enrolled in college and pursuing a degree.

- Active duty or reserve U.S. Marine

For the purpose of determining eligibility , non-taxable allowances (such as BAH) received by military members on active duty are NOT included in determining adjusted gross income.

The Heavy Constructors Association

                                                               of The Greater Kansas City Area

The Heavy Constructors Association of Greater Kansas City Industry Advancement Fund is making available scholarships of up to $2,000 per academic semester to students pursuing careers in construction-related sciences.

The HCA-IAF Scholarship is directed toward individuals pursuing degrees in civil engineering, construction management, business administration, computer science, management information systems, mathematics or any other technical field. The prerequisites is that the student demonstrates a commitment toward a career in construction. Additionally, the student is encouraged to work in summer construction while in school. The association will assist with placement if necessary. We feel that summer employment in construction provides the student with valuable hands-on experience.

Corporate Citizenship: SAP America Scholarship Program

The SAP America Scholarship Program will:

  • Award up to nine, $10,000 scholarships to students for the 08-09 academic year
  • The funds are intended to assist the student in defraying tuition expenses and may not be used to cover other costs such as room and board
  • If annual tuition is less than $10,000 the remaining amount may be carried forward to the next academic year, without the need for the student to re-qualify for that subsequent year
  • The scholarship payment will be made directly to the designated and eligible university and are not transferable to other academic institution

Eligibility Requirement

The student applicant must meet all of the following requirements:

  • Currently enrolled as a full-time student and making satisfactory academic progress within a four-year undergraduate program in an eligible University
  • The University must be an active member of the SAP University Alliances program in the United States
  • Only students who are commencing their Junior or Senior year in the scholastic year for which the scholarship is granted are eligible to receive a scholarship

Who's eligible?

*In addition to financial need, students must demonstrate progress toward degree completion and maintain a minimum 2.0 cumulative grade point average. Evidence of strong character through a pattern of responsible behavior supported in a letter or recommendation is also critical. Applicants must be permanent residents of St. Louis City, St. Louis County, the Missouri counties of Franklin, Jefferson, Lincoln, St. charles or Warren and the Illinois counties of Clinton, Jersey, Madison, Monroe or St. Clair for at least two years prior to application.

 

What else?

* Funding is available to part-time and full-time students who plan to enroll in, or are currently enrolled in, a degree seeking program at an accredited two or four year college, graduate, professional, vocational or technical school.

 

How much?

* Undergraduate students may apply for as much as $5,500 for the 2008-2009 academic year. Graduate students may borrow up to $6,000. Interest-free loans are renewable and remain interest-free throughout the life of the loan-even in repayment! There is a one-year grace period after graduation.

The Missouri Society of Professional Engineers, St. Louis Chapter Auxiliary, is pleased to announce that we will be awarding two $1,000 scholarships to aspiring engineering students for the 2008-2009 school year.

P.E.O International Peace Scholarship Fund

for Women Graduate Students

Purpose:Believing that education is fundamental to world peace and understanding, members of the P.E.O. Sisterhood contribute funds for the purpose of providing scholarships for selected women from other countries for study in the U.S. and Canada.

Prerequisites for applicants: Entrance classification and confirmation of admission

  • The applicant must be qualified for admission to full-time graduate study, working toward a graduate degree in the college of university she will attend.
  • A copy of the applicant's confirmation of admission must be received by the IPS office by April 1, 2008 in order to complete the application. This notice must specify the graduate degree program. No consideration will be given to applicants lacking evidence of admission.
  • Prerequisites above do not apply to the applicant who enrolls at Cottey College, Nevada, Missouri. Cottey college is owned and operated by the P.E.O. Sisterhood. The applicant shall present evidence of admission to Cottey.

St. Louis Chapter HACEMOS Scholarship

The St. Louis Chapter of the Hispanic/Latino Employee Association of AT&T (HACEMOS) awards annual scholarships to meritorious Hispanic college students or college bound high school seniors. The objective of the scholarship is to promote and advance the education of Hispanics in the St. Louis metropolitan area

Eligibility:

  • All Hispanic college students and high school graduates residing in the St. Louis metropolitan area (including Missouri and Illinois) are eligible to apply. The applicant must be a Hispanic resident of the United States as classified by the United States Census. College students and high school graduates who have a parent who has been a member in good-standing of HACEMOS for at least two years are also eligible to apply.
  • Evidence of acceptance from or enrollment in a college or university will be required prior to the award funds being disbursed. This evidence is not required as part of the application.
  • In the event of a merit tie between scholarship candidates after the evaluation process, the Scholarship Committee reserves the right to interview the finalists to break the tie. Any candidate that fail to make themselves available for an interview, when required, will forfeit their candidacy for the scholarship.
  • Previous scholarship recipients are eligible for a scholarship upon submitting a current application according to eligibility and guidelines outlined.

Association of Desk and Derrick Educational Trust Scholarships

The Association of Desk and Derrick Clubs, through the Desk and Derrick Educational Trust, will accept scholarship applications for the 2008-2009 academic year from students seeking degrees in fields related to the petroleum, energy and allied industries. Such majors as geology, geophysics, petroleum engineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, energy management, and nuclear engineering qualify. An application form is available at the ADDC website,  www.addc.org   under the Educational Trust link. Applications must be received by April 1, 2008 for consideration.

Eligibility Criteria:Eligible applicants must meet the following

  • Complete at least two years of are currently enrolled full-time in the second year of undergraduate study at an accredited college or university
  • Maintain a grade point average of 3.2 or above on a 4.0 grading system
  • Demonstrate need for financial assistance in pursuing a college degree
  • Be a citizen of the United States or Canada
  • Plan a career in petroleum, energy or allied industry, or research and development of alternative fuels such as coal, electric, solar, wind, hydroelectric, nuclear and ethanol 

 

 


 

Joseph A. Holmes Safety Association Scholarship Program

Purpose:The Joseph A. Holmes Safety Association endeavors to promote health and safety within the mining industry. We believe that providing financial aid to students in the pursuit of education related to mining safety will result in safer mines and healthier environments within the mining industry. To that end, we have instituted this Scholarship Program and formed the Scholarship Evaluation Committee.

Scope:This scholarship program shall be open to persons who are pursuing careers in the mining industry, safety and health fields. Scholarship awards are available in the following activities:

  • High school graduates (graduating seniors) pursuing a college or university degree program.
  • Undergraduate students currently enrolled in a college of university degree program.
  • Graduates of a college or university pursuing a graduate degree

Application Requirements:Applicants must satisfy each of the following criteria:

  • Must have been accepted by an accredited college or university or currently enrolled at an accredited college of university in a degree program in mine safety, occupational or industrial health and safety, industrial hygiene, safety management or other related safety programs.
  • Must provide a transcript of grades for the last 3 years of completed education (i.e. high school or college level)
  • Must complete the Financial Disclosure Information section to verify financial status and expenses of all persons living in the applicant's household.
  • Must submit a 100-200 word essay on "why I want to study for a degree or pursue a career in the mine safety field"

            Must complete the Survey of Extracurricular Activities.

            Must submit two or three letters of recommendation (at least one acedemic).

The consulting firm of AES Engineers is committed to continuing its support of higher education by providing scholarships to deserving students.

The St. Louis Missouri Chapter National Association of Women in Construction is accepting applications for our ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS. The goal of this scholarship fund is to provide education assistance to students who are seeking a degree in engineering and show interest in the fire protection field. $4,000 in Scholarships Available!

Eligibility requirements:

  • Applicants must be female Missouri S&T student
  • She must have completed 50% of the hours necessary for completion of degree from Missouri S&T, and be in good academic standing
  • She must be enrolled minimum of 9 hours in a degree program at the time of scholarship payment, must show evidence of satisfactory progress toward that degree
  • She must demonstrate financial need
  • She must submit a written statement outlining her reason for application to the Coterie Scholarship Committee.
  • She must NOT be a family member of any Missouri S&T faculty, full-time staff, or other personnel, and may not be an employee herself

ALPHA IOTA EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The Alpha Iota Educational Foundation (AIEF) was created in 1993 to provide scholastic support to students at the Missouri University of Science and Technology(Missouri S&T).

This scholarship program consists of a $1000 scholarship award during each school year. Applications are submitted during Fall  Semester and the scholarship is awarded during the Spring Semester. Scholarships awards can be used toward tuition and lab fees at Missouri S&T.

Scholarship recipients are chosen by a committee commissioned by the AIEF Board of Directors. The selection process is based upon the written applications.

Applications for scholarships may be obtained from the Missouri S&T Student Financial Assistance Office.

Instructions and Information:

1.) To be eligible for the AIEF scholarship program, applicants must be enrolled as full time undergraduate students at the Missouri University of Science and Technology during the semester in which the scholarship is awarded.

2.) There are many highly qualified applicants for the Alpha Iota Educational Foundation scholarship, so it is important that the scholarship application be completed thoroughly and prepared with attention to detail.

Department of Energy Computational Science

Graduate Fellowship(DOE CSGF)

Who can apply? This fellowship is for exceptional undergraduate seniors or first or second year graduate students planning full-time study toward a PhD. in the physical, engineering, computer, mathematical, or life sciences with emphasis in high performance computing. Applicants must be US citizens or permanent resident aliens.

The DOE CSGF program pays all tuition and required fees for up to 4 years of study at any US university, provides a $32,400 yearly stipend, matches university funds (up to $2500) to purchase a computer workstation for the fellow's exclusive use, and provides a yearly academic allowance of $1000 to the fellow for their professional development.

The Missouri Teacher Education Scholarship Program

Attention Prospective Teachers!!!The Missouri Teacher Education Scholarship Program offers a one-time $2,000 scholarship to encourage talented students to pursue a career in teaching.

Eligible Applicants Must:

-Be a resident of Missouri

-Be a high school senior, a freshmen, sophomore or returning adult student at a community college or at a four-year college or university in Missouri

-Rank in the top 15% of your high school class OR score in the top 15% on a college-entry exam (ACT of SAT)

-Attend an approved teacher education program at a four-year college or university in Missouri.

Scholarship recipients must remain enrolled in a four-year teacher education program and are required to teach in Missouri public schools for five years. Otherwise, the scholarship converts to a loan and the state's portion must be repaid.

The Missouri Minority Teaching Scholarship Program

Attention Prospective Teachers!The Missouri Minority Teaching Scholarship offers a $3,000 per year renewable scholarship to encourage talented minority students to pursue a career in teaching.

Eligible applicants must:

-Be a Missouri resident

-Be an African American, Asian American, Hispanic American or Native American.

-Be a high school senior, college student or returning adult (without a degree) who ranks in the top 25% of their high school class and scores in the top 25% of the ACT or SAT exams; OR be an individual who has completed 30 college hours and has accumulative GPA of 3.0; OR be an individual with a baccalaureate degree who is returning to an approved math or science teacher education program.

-Be enrolled in a participating, approved teacher education program at a community college or four-year college or university in Missouri.

-Submit an application postmarked by February 15th deadline.

Scholarship recipients must remain enrolled in a teacher education program and are required to teach in Missouri public schools for five years. Otherwise the scholarship converts to a loan and the state's portion must be repaid.

The Urban Flight and Rural Needs Scholarship

Provided by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education

The Urban Fligt and Rural Needs Scholarship Program provides scholarships to eligible students who enter a teacher education program and make a commitment to teach as a condition of receiving the scholarship. The scholarship will be applied toward the cost of eligibility student's tuition and fees, up to four years, at a two-year or four-year college or university located in Missouri. (Reimbursements will be made at the appropriate undergraduate rate for that institution. The maximum tuition rate is based on the University of Missouri's rate, which varies annually.)

Eligible applicants must:

-Be a United States citizen and a resident of Missouri

- Be a high school senior, a college freshmen or sophomore, or returning adult student at a community college or at a four-year college or university in Missouri; OR a Missouri high school graduate with a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a four-point scale or equivalent; OR an individual who has completed 30 college hours and has a cumulative grade point average of 2.5; OR an individual with a baccalaureate degree and a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 who is returning to an approved teacher education program.

-Submit an application postmarked by April 15th, 2008 deadline

Candidates are selected on the basis of high school or college cumulative grade point average and financial need. Scholarship recipients must earn a Missouri teaching certificate and teach for up to eight years in a Missouri public school with a higher than average "at-risk student population." Otherwise, the scholarship converts to a loan and must be repaid.

Illinois Association of Aggregate Producers

Education Foundation Scholarship

Scholarship Requirements:Applicant must be a high school graduate or will graduate the year applying, must have a "B" average, and majoring in a curriculum compatible with a career in the aggregates industry such as Civil Engineering, Engineering Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology, Geological Engineering, Mineral Science or Mining Engineering. Applicants must be pursing undergraduate work only, on a full-time basis.

Submit the following:

1.) Completed application form (available in Financial Aid Office)

2.) High school transcript, including ACT or SAT scores.

3.) Current college transcript (if applicable) *High school transcripts must be submitted if you have been in college for less than one year.

4.) Essay explaining:

    a.) how your chosen field of study will apply to work in the Illinois aggregates industry

    b.) your goals

    c.) where you plan to attend school

    d.) why you chose to apply for this scholarship

Missouri Travel Council Scholarship

In 2008, the Missouri Travel Council will offer two (2) $1,000 scholarships to students pursuing a hospitality related major such as hotel/restaurant management, parks and recreation, etc.

Missouri Retired Teachers Foundation

The Missouri Retired Teachers Foundation is pleased to offer scholarships to students who are in a teacher education program.

 Scholarship Criteria:

This scholarship is designed to encourage students enrolled in a teacher education program to complete their degree.  The scholarship may also be awarded to students who are seeking certification in Missouri or an advanced degree in education.

To Apply:  Complete the attached application.

Amount of scholarship:  $1,000

MSPE Educational Foundation-Cohen Memorial Scholarship

The Missouri Society of Professional Engineers Education Foundation will award one (1) $2,000 scholarship to a current student enrolled in a Missouri engineering program that has been accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET-EAC).  This scholarship is a competitive scholarship based upon: academic achievement; work experience; extracurricular college and/or community activities, and financial need.

Eligibility: Applicants must be a U.S. citizens; and, a sophomore or junior currently enrolled.

Scholarship submittal package must include:

  1. Application
  2. Official Transcripts (must be in sealed envelope)
  3. Two recommendations
  4. Essay on career plans not to exceed 500 words
