Caterpillar  Dependents Scholarship

Caterpillar has provided scholarships to be awarded in the amount of $1,000 per semester for a value of $2,000 per academic year for one year only. Students can reapply for future consideration. Recipients of the scholarship must be dependents of Caterpillar employees or retirees of Caterpillar and must be a student at Missouri S&T. Preference shall be given to students with the greatest financial need, determined by completion of the FAFSA.

Coterie Scholarship

The Coterie Scholarship is available for Missouri S&T female students that have completed at least 50% of the hours required for the completion of a degree from Missouri S&T.  She must be enrolled in a minimum of 9 hours in a degree program and must show evidence of satisfactory progress towards the degree.  She must demonstrate financial need and be in good academic standing with the university.  She cannot be a member of the family of any university faculty, full-time staff, or other personal (although she may be an employee herself).  Preference will be given to women with added personal obligations (e.g. children, invalid dependent, physical disabilities, etc.) and who had her college education interrupted and is returning to complete her undergraduate or graduate degree at Missouri S&T.  Grade point average will be taken into consideration.  The scholarship is for up to $4,000 for the academic year.

University of Missouri MOST Scholarships

In 2006, the University of Missouri announced the MOST Scholarship Program. 80 Scholarships of $500 per year will be awarded annually- for qualifying students of families who have invested for college through Missouri's 529 Savings Plan (MOST) and who have attended on of the University of Missouri four (4) campuses. Awardees will be selected based on financial need.

Qualifications:

  • Be a designated beneficiary of an account of the MOST 529 College Savings Plan that has been in effect for at least five (5) years at time of application.
  • Be an accepted incoming student or an enrolled student in good standing at one of the four University of Missouri campuses.
  • Complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  • Have financial need: applicants will be selected according to their financial need.
  • Complete and submit the online MOST Scholarship application by April 1, 2008: http://www.umsystem.edu/ums/departments/fa/most/index.shtml.

 

Bailey  Scholarship

Scholarship Criteria:

  • Recipients must be students who have achieved sophomore, junior or senior status enrolled at Missouri S&T in engineering
  • Scholarship restricted to engineering students only
  • Preference shall be given to students involved in a nationally recognized social fraternity or sorority
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA
  • This scholarship can be renewed upon re-application each year

Departmental  Scholarships

Many academic departments at Missouri S&T offers scholarships to new and currently enrolled students. To find out if the department you are majoring in offers departmental scholarships and what you must do to qualify for them, contact the main office of your intended major.

Embarq  Missouri S&T Scholarship

Recipients shall be students enrolled at Missouri S&T, pursuing a degree in education, engineering, science/environment, business/economics, marketing, math/computer technology. The scholarship will be available only for high school seniors, spouse of military or persons already enrolled in the university AND living in the Embarq service area. Recipients must agree to have their name publicized as an Embarq Missouri S&T Scholar. A minimum of 3.0 GPA is required along with a letter of reference from the applicants high school counselor or college/university advisor.

Mr. and Mrs. Francis Carl Prewett Sr. Scholarship

For Humanities and/or Liberal Arts majors that graduated from a Phelps County High School, with preference given to those from Newburg High School.  Students must be admitted to Missouri S&T and must have completed the FAFSA by March 1st.  Financial need must be demonstrated to receive this scholarship.  There are two scholarships given each year and is renewable for up to eight semesters as long as the student maintains a 2.0GPA.

  McBride/Grimm Scholarship and Loan

McBride and Grimm Scholarship/Loans are available to engineering major students that have completed at least 60 hours of college credits by the fall semester.  The scholarships offer between $500 and $2000 in scholarship money and an additional $500 to $2000 in low-interest loans to those who qualify.

Gorman Scholarship

The Gorman Scholarship is available to students that have permanent residence in St. Louis City or County that are pursuing an engineering degree.  The student can be a first-time student or transfer student that graduated from a St. Louis City high school, private or public.  The scholarship is for $1250 per semester, and must be renewed every semester for up to four year.  
The application deadline for Fall Semester is May 20th and for the Spring Semester is November 20th.

Tilles Scholarship

The Tilles Scholarship is available for first-time freshmen that are residents of St. Louis City or County.  This scholarship pays for all tuition and fees for each semester for up to four years as long as the student maintains a 3.0GPA and is enrolled full-time.  The student is also responsible for sending their transcripts and an invoice of tuition and fees to the Tilles committee at the end of each semester.

FIRST Robotics Scholarship

The FIRST Robotics Scholarship is available for full time undergraduate students who have been a member of a FIRST Robotics team in high school.  The scholarship is for $500 per year and is renewable for up to 4 years as long they maintain full-time status and a 3.25GPA.  The application along with a 500 word essay about their FIRST Robotics experience and leadership roles is required for consideration.  The applicant must also have an ACT of 24 or SAT of 1100 and a 3.5 GPA.

Boy's State/ Girls's State Scholarship

The Boys State and Girls state Scholarship is available to new incoming freshmen that participated in either Girls State or Boys State.  There is one scholarship awarded per association of $500 for the year and it is a non-renewable scholarship.  To apply you must send a letter, either via e-mail, mail or fax, stating why you feel that you should be considered for the scholarship.  In the letter state what participation that you have had in Boy's/Girl's State, and leadership qualities that you feel you possess and why you should be considered for the scholarship.  Financial need will be considered when awarding this scholarship.  The deadline for this scholarship is February 1st.

  UM System Tuition Settlement Scholarship

The qualifying student attended one of four (4) University of Missouri campuses (Columbia, Kansas City, Rolla, St. Louis) during the period from Winter Semester 1995 through Fall Semester 2001 inclusive; and t he qualifying student was a Missouri Resident Undergraduate student at the time of attendance; and t he qualifying student was at least 16 years of age, but under age 22 on the first day of class in at least one semester during this time period.  
The deadline for the application for the Summer 2010 and Fall 2010 is due by February 15th.

Miner Alumni Association Leadership Award Endowed Scholarship

The Leadership Award funds may only be used for tuition, fees or books (cannot be used for room and board).  The requirements are: full-time student at Missouri S&T, an undergraduate, Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better, and show leadership in university and community involvement.  The application must be completed in whole including the forms, a personal statement, unofficial transcript, and two letters of recommendation. An application can be picked up at 107 Castleman Hall or in the financial aid office.

  Tristan G. & Sigma Nu Pinzke

This is a scholarship for students that are enrolled in an engineering major and maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA, and they shall be chosen on their campus and community leadership and involvement.  Financial need is not a requirement.  The application should be filled out and returned to the financial assistance office by February 1.

Installment Payment Plan

If financial aid does not cover fees and room and board, you may take advantage of Missouri S&T's installment plan, and make 10 payments per academic year at an interest rate of 1% per month on the unpaid balance. You will need to contact the Cashier's Office directly to take advantage of this program.

 

Short Term Loans

Loans of $300 for personal expenses are available while classes are in session and must be repaid one month after taking out the scholarship.

 

Co-Op Education Program

The Cooperative Education Program alternates full-time study with full-time career-related employment, offsetting college expenses while providing leadership experience. Students may apply for co-op as early as their sophomore year. More information is available from the Career Opportunities Center [online].

Employment  on Campus (Non-work Study)

Many students are able to secure a part-time job on campus working as student ambassadors, on research projects with faculty, assist in the library or computer center and many other opportunities. To find out what opportunities are available to, contact the Student Life Office [online].
